Professional

Scarlet is a Client Service Specialist at Foster Group. She works closely with the Client Service Team and Associate Advisors to serve the needs of Foster Group clients. In this role, Scarlet assists in the production and tracking of many types of documents for our clients, including opening new accounts, transferring money between accounts, completing address changes, and processing client deposits.

Scarlet’s passion for being a lifelong learner and providing care to others led her to Foster Group. From choosing a major in the STEM field as an undergraduate student to obtaining her masters in graduate school, Scarlet has always wanted to share knowledge with others and help people avoid the same mistakes she did. Her first job out of graduate school was being a Hall Coordinator at the University of Iowa. While there, she was able to connect with college students and adapted her approach to talking about financial literacy. After five years of instructing multiple first year exploratory and leadership courses, Scarlet discovered her passion for talking to young adults about how their current financial decisions could impact their financial abilities in the future. Her leadership, interpersonal skill set, and dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion have influenced her approach to work at Foster Group.

Personal

While originally from the suburbs of Detroit, I eventually bounced state to state before calling Des Moines my home. With each move that I made, I have strived to stay connected with the black community, as this is a major part of my identity. I am a daughter, a sister, a partner, a friend, and a dog mom. Each identity holds weight as to how I show up day to day. I love to share knowledge with others. I love trying new restaurants. I love dancing, and I love spending quality time with my family and friends. My role at Foster Group allows me the unique opportunity to share financial literacy information with my sphere of influence.

The quote, “You don’t know what you don’t know,” has led me to navigate life with an appreciation for moments when I am in the unknown. It has impacted my relationships, how I approach my work, how I communicate with others, and how I love myself. I believe that one can only do their best, based on what they currently know. Once a person learns more, they can adapt and grow.
