Personal

I learned the value of hard work and long-term planning from the example my parents set. In addition to his office workday, most nights my father also tended corn and soybean fields as a path to achieving his goal of farmland ownership. My mother made the demanding juggle of family life and her career in special education look easy. She never missed a softball game, choir concert, or mock trial tournament. To this day, I approach my goals and objectives with the same sense of personal responsibility and commitment.

Service to others and the community is a priority in my life. I am especially passionate about improving financial literacy in youth and adults, because financial skills are essential to the pursuit of a healthy, happy, and productive life. Supporting the fine arts and expanding youth access to music education & performance is also a philanthropic priority of mine.

My husband and I live in West Des Moines where we enjoy being active. I love to spend time outside whenever I can and am always up for a hike, swim, walk, run, or bike ride. In quiet moments, I enjoy solving and writing crossword puzzles or cozying up with a good book. We are blessed to have family nearby and see each other often. We also enjoy cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers and St. Louis Cardinals.
