Jerry Foster’s unique combination of knowledge, skills, expertise, and interests formed the perfect background to create Foster Group, whose mission is “to be a catalyst for positive life change, providing financial solutions that reduce complexity and establish a high probability of success” for our clients.

From his first job after college (Iowa State University, B.S., 1977) to his leadership today of Foster Group, Jerry’s focus has been education. After helping establish an inner-city ministry for at-risk youth in one of Chicago’s toughest neighborhoods, he returned to Iowa to teach and coach in West Des Moines public schools. After three years, Jerry transitioned to the private sector, helping start a successful office supply company before moving into insurance and, ultimately, financial services.

Jerry founded Foster Group in 1989 as a fee-only financial planning firm dedicated to providing objective, unbiased advice to clients. He measures success for himself and the company by the way it impacts clients’ entire lives. His goal is to have each client experience personal wealth through sound, disciplined financial strategies integrated with individual, family, and organizational goals.

Personal

Every day, I try to challenge the team at Foster Group in our pursuit of excellence in delivering a world-class experience for our clients. Our goal as a team is to challenge our clients to be good stewards of their resources and to influence those around them in positive ways.

In addition to my responsibilities in leading Foster Group, I enjoy speaking on leadership and financial and family topics, addressing groups including CrossTrainers, FamilyLife, and Crown Financial. I’ve also lectured at international leadership conferences in Australia, Belgium, Germany, Romania, Guatemala, and other countries.

Nancy, my wife of more than 39 years, and I have four grown children and ten grandchildren. Away from the office, I enjoy creating art, working in pastels. And whenever practical, we spend time at our family’s lake home in Panora.
