Personal Thoughts
When I’m not in the office, I can often be found doing “grandma duty” with one or all of my grandchildren. I am so fortunate that my children, grandchildren and I all live in the same town. It is a wonderful opportunity to create memories with each one of them.
My husband and I are do-it-yourselfers and we keep busy with projects around the house. We are very active in our church and with our extended families in Iowa and Illinois.
While I do enjoy a good book, I am most likely to be seen with a cookbook or recipe magazine in my hands. In fact, I quite often have a few cookbooks stashed in various locations (my car, by my bedside, etc.) so I can browse them when opportunity arises. I’m always looking for a good recipe to try for potlucks, meetings or family dinners. As you might guess, with grandchildren in my life, I am also an avid reader of children’s literature. At this stage in their lives, anything from the “Little Critter” series is a favorite.
One of my favorite quotes comes from Erma Bombeck, American humorist and author. It reminds me to do my best every day and to make the most of my gifts and talents without reservation or fear of ‘messing up’:
When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me."
